Code of Ethics

 

The Suzuki 4x4 Club of W.A. has a code of ethics in place to ensure we meet our commitment to safe and sustainable recreational Four Wheel Driving activities. All members are expected to follow the code at all times whilst representing the Club.

 

1.Members shall be prepared to conform to majority decisions under the guidance of the Trip Leader whose authority must be accepted at all times. Should it be necessary, a Trip Leader shall be empowered to recommend to the Committee of his Club that a member or members be banned from future trips or be asked to resign from the Club for refusal to comply with reasonable control.

 

2(a)There shall be NO destruction of trees, shrubs or wild life;

2(b)All the public and private property shall be respected and no wilful trespass shall be permitted;

2(c)Permission shall he obtained before entering private property;

2(d)Every effort shall be made not to disturb stock where stock is present;

2(e)Local water supplies must be respected; and

2(f)Express thanks for any help obtained from non-members.

 

3.No firearms shall be used on any Club outing without the express permission of the Trip Leader. As a general rule, the carrying of firearms is not welcome.

 

4.What can be carried in can be carried out. (Rubbish, etc.).

 

5.All hygiene decisions shall be made by the Trip Leader. At roadside stops the rule followed is: Ladies - to the left, Gents - to the right. In all cases night soil (faeces) shall be buried.

 

6.All gates are to be left as found by the Trip Leader.

 

7.Every care shall be exercised in the lighting and control of fires and all fires shall be properly extinguished on leaving the area. NO fire shall be lit in prohibited areas or during prohibited periods.

 

8.No member shall leave a convoy without letting the Trip Leader know, and to state if the absence is to be permanent or not. Advise Trip Leader of intentions of movements.

 

9.All members shall comply with the requirements of the Traffic Act and regulations and observe road courtesy.

 

10.The Trip Leader, or someone deputised by him, shall keep a log of all happenings on the trip.

 

11.Dogs are not permitted on Club outings.

 

12.At all turn-offs, vehicles shall wait until the following vehicle is aware of the former's intention. Periodical checks for following vehicles must be made.

 

13.It shall be ascertained that no member of a convoy is left in trouble without help.   To signal that help is required, raise the front bonnet of the vehicle.

 

14.When travelling in convoy, vehicle position must be maintained with ample room between vehicles to enable other road users to leapfrog throughout the convoy.   Should a vehicle lose its position, it shall not regain its former position until the convoy is halted.

 

15.No member shall have the right to invoke his Club membership whilst on private trips.

 

16.It shall be the responsibility of all members to ensure their vehicles are in sound mechanical condition and that adequate supplies of FUEL, FOOD and WATER are carried.

 

17.Motorbikes and other off road vehicles are prohibited on Club runs.

 

18.As a general rule, the club does not condone the consumption of alcohol or drugs whilst in charge of a motor vehicle.
